Inactivity strikes again

I had to install ff again and i was searching for good extensions again. And I found 1 called switchproxy. I don't know if you have ever heard of it or something like that. But that not why i am posting this. I wanted to know if you guy's ever use proxy's. And where you get them and how you think about people using them.

Please excuse but my english isn't very wel but I am still learning.

I've never needed to use a proxy for anything, since my connection has always worked without a problem. The place where I work used to support one for certain services, but has since disabled it. There's nothing wrong with using proxies, it's just a way of getting around certain network barriers.

depends on your network, most home networks you dont need a proxy

I know m just asking who uses one and why. And if you use one where do you get it from? I use one for the things i don't want to be traced so easy. (no not for porn site's)

Whatever...

if you wnat to try to be "anonymous" (you are never anon., it just makes it harder to find out what you real ip is)you can try to chain some proxys, but it will get slow. But if you want to post really bad things at forums or something then you can use it XP

Signatures suck

well the thing is proxy is that although it does almost the same job as a NAT in that it hides the ip address of anything behind it, you would almost have to configure every application one by one to make sure that they are aware of the proxy, as opposed to the easy setup of a router
And then there is always the question as to how good the proxy machine is

you need a router, all he has to do is turn off the router, or block your mac address, or even better, connect the router backwards
btw, is remote desktop possible in proxy?
