My question to you guys is why do we love anime couples so much!?
I get completely obsessed with them but when I stop to think about it I have no idea why!!

i dont love the anime couples.... for me its the same... oh well... a gothic anime couple looks very cool, under this condition, i liked cause gothic couples looks awesome in dark dresses

I guess we love them because they're out of the ordinary. I love 'em 'cause to me, they seem more sincere to each other and a lot of people aren't like that.

i love shoujo, even thought the formula is always the same i can't help but love em soo much! it's always the plain jane who doesn't know she's cute! and end up stealing the heart of the most wanted boy in school. it's just romantic. --- i'm hopeless when it comes to romantic comedy so guess that's why i luv em... they're fun and sweet, innocent, and sincere. and i don't doubt their love.i also like couple depending on the artist ... cuz i look for shoujo, i have to like the artist style.

I started with Robotech and I was always drawn to the dynamic of relationships (since they were usually not covered in US Cartoons). Macross introduced me to the idea of Love Triangles, Southern Cross to doomed relationships & New Gen to moving on (Scott & 2nd Marlene).
I guess its the element of Drama. Seeing what happens and if a couple will stay together past the test of time. Not sure exactly... but they do make things interesting.

I have no idea why people like couples so much. Maybe they're hopeless romantics or just want the potential pair to have a happy ending. Also the tension between characters make it more interesting and then fans doing the fanon thing and it gets messy from there.

The tension is very interesting.
Well, for me. The couples I like most are in shounen anime/manga, where love and romance aren't the main focuses, and who aren't the main protagnanists.
I like those couples because it always seems that everyone sees how well they belong to eachother except them. It's funny.~*~ "A man always wants to be a woman's first love. A woman always wants to be a man's last romance." ~*~

I guess we love anime couples cuz, anime writer can portray love and romance through the cahracters. The love is so sincere, so nonexisting in today's society. I guess we love to see the romance and love that we dont see in day-today life.

The only "couple" that really interested me was Mai and Mikoto in Mai HiME. I liked that it was a real and emotionally involved relationship with full intimacy but still non-sexual.

becoz their love-life usually seems to good to be true, or they just look so cute together...and it's usually romantic, and you know that kind of stuff rarely ever happens in real life :P

Simply because they are everything which we are not. Perfection in every aspect is something humans crave. Perfect physical features, perfect intellect, perfect personality...Absoloute perfection in every inevitable aspect we can ever imagine. But that's also why we love other things to do with fantasy. Perfection without a price. Then there is the concept of love. By today's standards love is not indeed a love which connects with undying devotion and dedication we hear in the tales of ancient and medieval times: The perfect devotion in fantasy. The love of today is not indeed a love but in reality a lust. It is the primal aspect at which every animal succumbs to: The same and very feeling one gets through a process of reproduction which causes one to say "I love you" out of a mere desire for the very feeling they recieve, a "Good sensation" in that matter and the very reason why we look at fantasy couples and say "That is the love I want" because we do not experience love or perfection, we merely experience a perverse illusion of it.
