LOL, Asuka....erm, I mean, "Kate Rose" (bwahaha) looks ugly. As does Re....um, I'm sorry, "ray" (hahahahaha).
If they hire some cute actresses and make the Evas/Angels look really good, I might bite.
Evangelion was meant to be an anime and should stick as anime. They probably fuck it up just like they did with G-Saviour. Gundams of all things weren't meant to be turned into a live action movie. NO anime series should BE turned INTO A LIVE action movie!
I loved the anime....but the live action movie holds very little promise. The evangelion units have been drawn way to complex and edgy. The characters too look horrible, and their names are ridiculous.
I'm really annoyed with the changes they've made already, character names and such mostly. And where is Rei/Ray's blue hair? Aggh! I'll probably watch it anyway though out of curiosity. :sweat:
I really doubt it would be the same as the anime. They network that showed Evangelion here in my place butchered the show and taped teh "clean" pieces back together, saying that the show had some pretty intense material. If they did that to the anime, what more do you think the censorship board would cut off from the movie if it were based on the anime itself?
My final word; Eva should stick to being anime. Live-Action sounds... Expensive and almost promises disappiontment.

i found this out couple of days ago too......and i have to say.....i hope the evas don't turn out anything like the ones in the production art.....they look like hunched back old mens.......ack.....
and what's up with all the name changes and stuff? i found that they really changing names for anime when they port it to english.....nothing is wrong with asuka is it?!?!
in short, hollywood live-action eva = bad idea.....
but....it might be different if it was a japanese live-action eva film~
anyways...i would still go watch it to see just how much they can screw it up....

I heard about this a couple of months ago. I don't know if my information is still accurate, but I read that WETA would do the special effects, the same company that did the Lord of The Rings. What I'm most affrain is that they'll screw up the story...It's kinda hard to resume a 25 episode series in just two hours...without cutting some vital information.

This is hardly news since it was first announced spring 2004.
Whatever good the name Shin Seiki Evangelion holds now will be completely annihilated by american commercialism. I expect a "go go evangelion!" as the first sentence of the opening lyrics featuring "Kate Rose" and hoping that nobody will be named Bob.
