While internet can be used to gather useful informations , gathering friends, donating, and ordering items, we may find internet used by unresponsible people to do evil things: hacking, child prostitution, drug trade, woman, or worse, baby-trafficking. Do you think some cyber security police is needed to track down such activities? And do you think it'll be effective? Do you agree that, in order to limit and trace the crimes, the police have authority to spy at your e-mail? Do you think it's an offense toward privacy, but if it's for good deeds...?

In a way, ironically the best people for the job are hackers. A lot of crime could be found if net activity patterns were advertised, but stopping and tracing it is a fair bit harder.

I think that the thought pattern that "it's being done for the greater good" is a dangerous one to have. Granted what you propose could prove beneficial in that through certain email traffic and other indicators, a potential criminal may be stopped, it also can be used as exploitation. I have nothing to hide, but at the same time I don't want some unknown person out there reading my emails, following my web traffic and any other miriad of things in the name of the 'greater good'. When even the slightest freedom is sacrificed, it opens the door to more loss.
Besides, you may have your way anyway, and it may get worse. Right now the US controls the internet and the UN is trying to take it from us. Right now unless it's child porn, anything is allowed on the net in the name of free speech. If the UN gets a hold of it, it may not be the same. I think we will see laws coming into play soon enough that could do something to the likes of what you describe, but it will be in the name of 'stopping terrorism'.
Under construction. Who doesn't like plain text anyway?

i guess they should try and restrtict some things, but the internet should be free. i dont want to see major filterings. thats what makes the internet cool.- Apr 11, 2006

well i know that your mail and chat lounge is scanned for words that are not to be said over the net, a friend told me that so i am not so sure myself but i suppose if we speak against the gov. or something it would be found out...and i think the gov is not so stupid as to not monitor the people's activity...i donno just a thought but i think from behind the scenes and unrevealed to everyone there lies this organization that controls anything we dream about...well...hahahaha...that is my imagination there... *shrug* looools
