What do you think about my wall?

This wasn't the first wallpaper I made, but is the first where I really worked hard. I tried a lot of things on the scan but in the end I decided to turn it black and white and paint it myself. It was my first time doing that so if you have some advise to made me, if you know some tutorial with what I can Improve my skills, I will be glad it you share it with me.
I also need advice with the background. How can I made to suits better with the scan?

I'm really gald you like the wall, but I think it could stay better..
Honestly I think the bg colours are darker than they should be, the brush I used doesn't fit very well with the scan. Also, Yukari lips' color is annoying me and there are a lot of edges to burnish in the painting... I already tried a few things to improve it, but that was the better I could do..
I need new ideas, fresh air, I suppose. I wanted to know what are your first impression when looking to my wall. What should I change. All your comments are welcome.. I really need the feedback of someone that is not tired to look at this wall for a whole month like me..

I know that feeling so it's tough :) The best suggest I can give is to a) take a bit of a break or b) browse through art sites like http://www.deviantart.com or http://gurafiku.tumblr.com/tagged/manga for inspiration. Now onto the wall - it's definitely not bad, but at first glance it does feel like something is lacking. Maybe making some of the colors stronger, pop out the blues and maybe add a hint of purple or some other contrasting colors will help. The biggest question for me would be - what are you trying to convey in this wall? Is there a story that you have in mind? Are you're aiming to make a wall inspired by fashion ads, for example, or are you trying to showcase Yukari and George's relationship? If you have a clear "theme" or concept in mind for the wall, that will help focus your design ideas and inspiration as well.

Well.. I really didn't think seriously about it... I just loved ParadiseKiss' story, saw this scan and tried to make a wall with it.
What I most like in the anime is Yukari's growing and how her world changed when she met Geourge and the others... Is it possible to make a wall based on that concept with this scan? How?

Based on that idea, I'd say work in a splash of colors, and you could potentially work in a floral "bloom" design of some kind. It really depends on how much additional work you want to put in the wall, but the design possibilities are endless for that concept :)

I was working on the concept for this wall, trying to give it some meaning, but any good idea came out.
I got bored and started playing with textures, adjustments layers and blending modes... That's the result.

the second one is definitely better. its already ok tho.
but imo..
the texture on their face should be erased. it adds focus to the wall.
the size could be bigger too XD

I like everything in the wally except the texture on the BG :D like... I LOVE the texture on the characters' clothes and hair (not their faces) but it looks very overwhelming when it's on the BG too. I think just the floral BG by itself is nice, or maybe add a softer/lighter texture that won't stick out so much. But seriously, other than that I LOVE your wally xD

Me again... with a new revision. Is there anything that I should change before submit this wall?

Is it just me? didn't you already have a wall with this scan in AP?
oh well...XD

if you ask me I personally think that the textures on the characters are too strong since the characters already have a complex type of art anyway
some of the texture placements are good but others aren't...I think it would be better if you just put the texture on the lightcolored section (the girls clothes, flower, either the shirt or the tie (both of them is probably too much), and the blue part of the hat) you should remove the other texture especially from the skin since it made it look kinda weird >.< (the girl's hair looks kinda nice so just try experimenting on where's the best place to put the texture XD)

well...in the end you are the artist so you should be the final judge for this wall lol
don't rely on people's opinions too much (that doesn't mean you shouldn't hear them out at all either XD) if you only follow what people says for your wall then it wouldn't be your wall anymore...
just believe in your idea and yourself XD (and it's not like I'm the best waller or art critique here so you can just ignore what I've been saying lol)

Yes, I submitted the first revision in this topic on AP. I also had a topic on session zero (it's here if you want to take a look). It's interesting to see the first versions of this wall: back then I don't even now how to extract a scan...
I think I got impacient and submitted it but I wasn't completely satisfied with the final result so I decided to create this topic.

Well, your opinions and feedback are really important to me. I just started learning how to work on photoshop so there are a lot of things that I don't even know that exist. By this reason, I try everything you suggest: if I like it, I keep it; if I don't ...well, I just learned some interesting stuff to use in future works. I will do the same with your suggestion.

Hmm. This wall has a nice simple concept, focusing on Parakiss patterns and designs. +points
I preferred the clean version, if only because the texture on there skin makes it a bit hard to look at. But in the clean version, it becomes a bit too clear that the scan is a bit blurred. And the texture from the paper makes it seem less high quality. >_< I would recommend that you find a higher quality scan. That would be best I think. But then.. I think that's a hard call since it seems that the scan is genuinely like that. Oh dear.

Are you using Photoshop? Okay, the easiest thing to do is to make a new layer and make that your texture layer. I'm not sure which layer mode or opacity would suit your wall best, I haven't used PS in a while. Use the pattern stamp to put on the texture, avoid their faces and the background. This is not all too easy but at least easier than cleaning the whole scan by painting, smudging and all. And the texture helped hide the blurriness of the scan. :)

I wonder if I help any, really...

Edit: Alternatively, you can use one of the selection tools and select their faces and skin, and keep it separate from the original layer.. Then use the layer options to add texture only to the clothes. This would be faster but you might need steadier hands. ^_^; Sorry, that's all I can suggest.
