Ok, after I reported a ripped wall I got this pm from the newly joined member asking me: "where is the policy??"

So, how about putting a link to the policy in the main menu bar?Cause many newly joined members might not think of searching for the policy under the support menu...
By having a link to it in the main menu bar, the amount of n00bs who read it should increase. Ans also.. they could not claim "I couldn't find it" if they do something wrong ...

There is a support button up there on the default skin. It seems obvious the FAQ section is under there to me, but maybe other people don't see it. I don't quite know.

That's precisely what I was stating. I think many persons do not search for the policy under the support section. Especially if they don't know english well. The support section, at first thought, can simply seem to be useful if you have problems with the site.
So they think:"Hey I don't need support, it all works fine for me"
Or they claim so in order to cover the fact they didn't bother to read the policy :D

Maybe there should be a link to the FAQ on the bar too. That would probably take care of any problems, but it would mean redesigning the default skin and the downloadable image pack. People would have to change their custom userpages if they've made them. It seems to be a little trouble.

I guess the alternative is just reporting like normal, but I can't see that the addition to the menu bar would make much difference. People would still make the same excuses as they do now.

what about making them read the FAQ when they sign for the full membership? with the catch that they HAVE to read it till the end, and saying that they may proced by pushing the "appropriate" button which would not be the "i accept" button but smth else within the text, there are pretty many websites which use this strategy, so i think you will get the idea.

Jasmine. You're a genius. Sometimes being a genius means seeing the cleanest and easiest solution while everyone else can't think of it :D
I strongly suggest this as well :D Great idea :D

I think that's the best solution for the problem. It definitely gets me to read rules or warnings, but I read them anyway (except for some sites where I know what certain forms of anime & manga are). It seems like a small addition to the site, but I don't know anything about writing code. If not the entire FAQ, then at least the submission policy. There might need to be a little restriction with some submissions. Namely, contents of scans. I think some people have missed the idea of "no pornography".

I suggested that at least 4 times so far.

PS: If I wouldn't KNOW that the FAQ is behind the support button, then I wouldn't find it.

that is exactly what i was thinking all along....that new users have to read the policy before allowing them to continue to sign up....i think i suggested that to sheqel b4...but he may be too busy to remember XD

Agreed, the policy sould be with signup, however I'm not sure hiding it is a good idea. :) Because there are obviously some people who can't speak/read/write English well around this place. So maybe sticking a time limit up so that you can't just click and enter straight away? Hrm, though that doesn't really solve anything either.

Yes, I agree entirely. as Keltosh said before:

so it seems that we all agree on this part ^^

yes Bucket-shot, but I am not sure about this "time limit" nor how should it precisely look like. Furthermore if we have this only "i accept" button that would move them from the first step till next in their registration process it is meaningless, as many still would not bother to read the rules. And having that catchy part that "i accept" would be smth diff within the text we make sure they have to read it or at least scan through the whole faq...

i've seen a few websites like that and i really think that's a good idea.
i hope the noobs don't give up registering because they can't see the 'I Accept' button. ^_^'
