I'm not too good with describing Battle Tactics involving entire fleets, Sorry if this isn't satisfactory
And this is also going to be another multi-part answer
June 3, 17:00- 9 B-17 Heavy Bombers stationed at Midway made an attack on a Japanese Transport Group. No real damage was done.
June 4, 1:00-PBY Torpedo damages the Akebono Maru.
June 4, 4:30-Nagumo ordered his initial attack of 108 aircraft, along with 8 search aircraft.
June 4, 6:20-Japanese Carrier Aircraft bombed and heavily damaged the U.S. base.
The Japanese forces lost several bombers and three fighters, while almost all of the U.S. fighters were downed in the First Dogfight.
After the Dogfight, the Japanese Airforce moved on the Base, and sustained heavy losses due to anti-aircraft guns
The Midway Base, while heavily damaged, could still be used to refuel U.S. Bombers, and another attack would be required before the Japanese could land troops on June 7

June 4, 6:20-Prior to the Japanese attack, U.S. Bombers based on Midway made several attacks on the Japanese Fleet. These Included 6 TBF Avengers and 4 USAAC B-26 Mauraders, all of which were armed with torpedoes
The Japanese suffered almost no losses, While the U.S. lost one Avenger and two Mauraders
