Everyone by now has probably heard of the earthquake and tsunami in South Asia on December 26. More than 158,000 are dead, and more are expected to succumb to disease. The need for funds for food, clothing, and shelter for the refugees is huge. Whole villages have been wiped out. So in light of this need, I've provided some links for reputable sites that are accepting donations that will go directly to helping the victims. Please consider helping; these people are in desperate need. Thank you. ^_^

I was back at my parents place for the holidays when the quake occurred. It was around 9, the day after Christmas, and I had just woken up (but not completely, you know). I was lying on the bed and felt what seemed like movement rocking the bed, which is not usually a good thing if you happen to be alone on it. Anyway, since Malaysia gets like, 0 earthquakes a year, it was strange. But I wasn't too concerned as tremors have happened before in my lifetime. The tremor was gone in about 30 seconds and there were no reported structural damages to buildings. It wasn't until later in the afternoon when the news reports started coming in that I realised what had happened. The news trickling in from all over Asia the next few days cemented the horror and the extent of the destruction visited by our very own home planet.

I've already given around us$25. I hope that those who are able to afford it and have yet to do so can find the compassion and the heart to give to the charities helping the survivors of the wave.

It's a good thing this is posted, I was wondering why no one posted anything about the Tsunami Relief, but it's good that it's posted! I'm hoping to donate as soon as I can get some cash, I hope others will do the same!

*nods head* those of you who are in asian countries such as singapore can also help by contributing foodstuff and clothes through the red cross and ur own respective schools/religious groups. and for those who can afford to take time off from work or are having holidays, do consider volunteering for the sorting out of the stuff or even signing up to go down to the various areas to help with the distribution of aid

My clubs at school are forming fundraising to send money and clothes and food. I'm thankful that my family isn't hurt over there, but I do believe their friends may be.

My Sincerest thoughts go to you Tank and to all those who have been effected by the tsunamis. If I could, I would go over and help but unfortunatly that isnt a option at my age. The best I can do is make a donation to those who need it and wish for the best.

Mine too. I donated some to the school, I'm sure that money will get there. I have a friend that went over there during the holidays. He's supposed to be back by now, but he isn't, and no word. So, I'm hoping he's just held up because of what's happening, and that nothing has happened to him...

I think we all will be helping out in our own little way, or should be at least....My hearts go out to those who suffered and have lost or just suffered.... I'll be doing what I can to help start a local charity and seeing what else I can't do to help out....Miles away yet I will make a difference, I will.

Our AP Comp. Gov. class is selling ribbons for charity. We were gonna do a bake sale, but that has complications.

Anyway, I'm gonna volunteer my time selling them 'cause I don't have a penny to my name -_-;; If you're in the Seattle area, they're orange, which is the only ribbon color not taken in the area. Good to see everyone trying to help.

In the US, if you have computers, electronics, cell phones, etc. that you no longer need, you can take them to any UPS Store. They will be sold, auctioned, or donated directly to charities helping with tsunami relief.

My wife and I donated a bunch of clothing and blankets for the people who have lost everything. Hope it helps out in some small way.

i heard on the news to be careful about e-mails asking for donations.
These e-mails might be hoax .

Safest bet is go straight to the organisation to donate.
I feel sorry for those who are affected -_-

Amazon.com has a convenient one-click donation button for anyone who has an Amazon account, and offers a nice, quick method of donation. :D
So far they've already collected over $14 million, which is just shy of the initial amount of aid the US offered. Not bad :D
